Whenever I look through my picture folder...

>> Oct 10, 2011

This photo always stands out to me when I look through my picture folder. Obviously it's not a great photo, I didn't intend on the door handles to be coming out of his head, however unintentional it was.. it's fitting.  The door handles look like little horns on Keagan's head.

If you know Keagan you're probably laughing right now.

If you don't, let's just say Keagan isn't one for getting his picture taken - saying "hey stand there and let me get a photo" is on the same level as telling an adult "hey stand there while I sing Henry the VIII fifty times"

The Great John Blevins?

>> Aug 16, 2011

As promised a post titled The Great John Blevins?... (that's a direct quote with the ? included, go back and look at your facebook comment Mr. you added the ? not me).  Before you stop reading, because you're thinking you don't know John Blevins, why do you care about a blog post about him - let me assure you this is about me, just somewhere towards the end.

Ever have that kid in high school that is there but he's like.. a character actor.  You know the face, maybe can't always remember the name but they steal every scene they are in?  That's John Blevins.  He was our groups comic relief.  He was my brother's friend and I was the tag-along sister.  I was invited on group events if there was an odd number, sometimes if I gave my brother gas money.. sometimes just because I think my brother actually liked hanging out with me but I know he would never have admitted that last one in high school.  One of my favorites was a summer we all went to Cedar Point, I honestly don't remember who was entirely included but quite a few of us.  John Blevins was one.  I think we laughed the entire time, he seemed to have one witty thing after another to say but my absolute favorite was about the Thunder Canyon Raft.  We were walking along towards the next ride and here come two guys (we assume park workers) rolling one of those rafts on it's side.  John gets a shocked look on his face, and shouts "Hey that was mine!! You're stealing my raft!" and literally takes off running after them.  It took us a bit to catch up with him, mainly because we were all cracking up at the fact he committed to the joke enough to literally chase them, and that everyone in the crowd was looking unsure whether he was joking or not.

But that was John Blevins, he committed to the joke and it made it all the funnier.  Over the years I've seen him, mainly at functions at my brother's house, birthday parties, labor day bbq's and an occasional football game.  Now nearing 20 years after high school, we are facebook friends.  I've seen him go from the goofy friend, to the adoring husband, a military enlistee, to freshman in college and now he's interviewing for a job in law enforcement.  Amazing how people do surprise you.  I can't say what I thought John would grow up to be, as I never gave it much thought at that time but I can say I doubt I would have said a police officer.

So when does this post become about me?  Right... about... now.  There are two reasons John remains on my facebook newsfeed.  One is the memories and chuckles he provides, the other is he goes to the gym but isn't a maniac about it.  He'll post about Bacon and the next day say he's going to the gym.  Yes at times it may seem counter productive but life is about balance right?

As this month is drawing to an end I find that I must find a better balance, so upon hitting "publish" with this post I am off to a yoga class (if I make it in time, if not I just hope I don't wind up with body combat again).  I dusted off my incentive item, a pair of awesome jeans from Lucky Brand, and a Ed Hardy belt my husband purchased for me the Christmas after Keagan was born.  It was bought off ebay and the auction stated the wrong size so I kept it as a 'goal' item.. please ignore the fact Keagan will be 4 in October.  I will state that on September 1st I will try these items on and post a photo regardless of how far up my legs I can get them.  (The photo will remain PG of course).  Wish me luck!!

A funny thing happened on the way to class...

>> Aug 8, 2011

By now you are probably aware of my fight against my weight.  I decided (like I have in the past) to kick it into gear today.  I headed to the gym, read the schedule and decided on Muscle Resistance Training class.  It was in 15 minutes.  I hopped on a treadmill and ran a quick mile while I waited for class to begin.  (Yes a whole mile in 15 minutes which is saying something considering the last time I was at the gym was over 2 weeks ago).  Let's get a little cardio in before I work on muscles right?

As I hit that one mile mark I realized class started in a minute.  I hopped off, went in and stood waiting for instruction on which resistance bands to grab.  No one was grabbing anything.  I asked the fellow gym enthusiast next to me why no one was getting equipment and she said you don't need it.  OK I thought maybe it's Yoga inspired type of resistance.  Nope, I then heard her say "this is Body Combat".  What I learned was that "Body Combat" means sixty minutes of pure unadulterated cardio hell.

Now, I work hard in spin class.  I love having jelly legs after getting off the bike.  I sweat in spin class.  I love spin class. I love sweating.  It makes me feel like I'm doing something, I'm taking an active stance in my health.  Sweating is a good thing to me.  This wasn't sweating, this was your insides trying to escape through your skin so they didn't have to endure another minute of this class.  This was every muscle in your body moving for the full hour of the class.  This was torture, that I received for thinking it was Tuesday.

One may assume that because I was in band I have rhythm.  One would assume gravely wrong with that.  I was not in the percussion section for a reason.  I can't keep a beat, I am far from coordinated.  I spent this hour being reminded of these truths.  She said two knee-ups I did one on the wrong knee then tried to quick switch to the other knee only to now be five moves behind.  Let's just say I was consciously aware of the big glass window behind me and assumed the entire gym was having a nice giggle over the chubby girl in grey who obviously doesn't know her left from her right.

By the end of the class I was a sweaty mess.  Not to be confused with hot mess, I'm not talking pretty sweaty like the girls they show in the commercials.  I'm talking the ugly sweaty where it's a running down my neck, back, and a sweat ring under the boobs.  On top of that I spent an hour gasping for air.  So now I have a sore throat, aching muscles and I smell like a boys locker room.

But this isn't a negative blog post, because if you read back through you'll realize at no point did I say I quit.  The instructor, Amy H., was amazing.  I wanted to quit but she kept yelling at us, singing (loudly) to the music, exuding energy and enthusiasm.  I nearly puked at one point, and wondered how to sneak out of the brightly lit room without being noticed.  But I didn't.  At 15 minutes I told myself to just make it to 30 and then I gave myself permission to leave.  After all, 30 minutes of this is a good starting point considering I had done nothing for days before.  At 30 minutes, I told myself I made it this far I could do 15 more and skip the abs and stretching at the end.  At 45 minutes, no way was I quitting with only 15minutes left.

I completed the class, the hardest exercise class I have ever experienced but I learned a valuable lesson about myself today... like I need to learn how to read a damn schedule.

My favorite season of fall...

>> Aug 4, 2011

Each person has a favorite season.  Some people like winter for the holidays and home cooked goodies, while others love spring for the newness and floral festival mother nature bestows upon us.  Then there are those who love summer, the warmth of the sun on their skin and the slushie umbrella drink in hand.  Me?  I love Fall.

I love the back to school hustle and bustle.  I like the idea that each new school year brings the promise of kids blossoming and me being that mom that's on top of everything.  The one that hands her kids homework in days early, always has all of the supplies on the school list plus a few extra for those 'other moms' who forgot to bring this or that in that day.  (Before you hate that comment realize I fall more often on the list of 'other moms')  I love the idea that if I start at the beginning of fall I can be done with holiday shopping in no time, I can cook several things ahead of the chaos Thanksgiving and Christmas bring... I can be 'together'.

But this doesn't begin to explain why Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year.  I can sum this up with two words... TV Premiers.

I have no problems admitting I am a TV junkie.  I try nearly every show and I'll give most shows 2-3 episodes before I call it quits. Some an entire season if there isn't anything else to distract me.  I love filling up my DVR and having to choose shows because there are so many to watch.  I can't wait until September and everyone in the house has learned to steer clear of the living room TV (deemed my DVR) until the dust settles and I know which shows are "keepers" and which shows will require me to navigate menus to delete them.  This fall after some careful review and hours of reveling trailers; here are the shows I am looking forward to watching this Fall. (a few I'll have to wait til January for...)

Mondays:
How I Met Your  Mother (Neil Patrick Harris - awesome)
The Voice (Blake Sheldon, Adam Levine and Cee Lo fighting over people is funny)
Castle (Started watching because I was a die hard Serenity fan.. stayed because it's just good)
Terra Nova (Sounds different, plus I like Jason O'Mara on Life on Mars)
Smash (Kathryn McPhee & lots of singing.. worked for Glee hope it works for this!)

Tuesdays:
Last Man Standing (Soley for nostalgia of Home Improvement & I love Hector Elizondo)
Glee (love how Sue C's it)
New Girl (Zoey Deschanel.. she's adorable!)
Biggest Loser (haven't missed a season yet)
Man Up (the opening scene of the trailer cracked me up and if the trailer made me LOL gotta watch)
Apartment 23 (I'm going to give it a go, it looks different and I was a Dawson Creek)

Wednesdays:
X-Factor (Simon Cowell made American Idol, wmiss the snark)
Modern Family (best show on tv)
America's Next Top Model (guilty pleasure)
I Hate My Teenage Daughter (Not sure but I like some of the stars in it)

Thursdays:
The Big Bang Theory (best show on tv and yes I said that but they're tied)
Grey's Anatomy (been watching since the beginning)
The Finder (by the creator of Bones must try)
How to Be a Gentleman (Rickety Cricket & Johnny Drama)
Bones (love this show and the cliff hanger! yikes)
Prime Suspect (I think I'll try this if any of the others don't work but obviously thursdays are full)
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Fat Mac??)

Fridays:
Fringe (Joshua Jackson doesn't exist???)
Grimm (it's fantasy, I love fantasy)
Chuck (just cute fun tv)
A Gifted Man (Jennifer Ehle and I love the whole Eli Stone feel it has)

Sundays:
Amazing Race (It's always interesting what people do on reality TV)
Desperate Housewives (Lynnette & Tom? Say it isn't so!!)
Once Upon a Time (fantasy and fairy tales!)
Walking Dead (I really enjoyed season 1, very odd considering I hate scary)

Thank goodness I'm the queen of multitasking!

Tidbits about me...

>> May 6, 2011

Have I ever told you how much I really love Trish Turay?  I don't know her as well as I'd like or half as well as so many others but she is just an amazing person to me.  She's kind and thoughtful, she's honest and open minded.  I just think, well she's the bees knees :)  She runs this amazing kit club called Work In Progress (a title which I happen to love since I always am reminding myself that I'm a work in progress).  Anyway, the other day I saw this post she did:  More than you probably wanted to know about me and I'm taking the invitation to join in, so here is more than you probably wanted to know about me!

Food: I have a love hate relationship with food, I don't understand why all the things I like make all the impact on my hips & thighs that they do, but alas... does it stop me from enjoying Peanut Butter Twix, Buca di Beppo, or Pepsi?  No, and I can't say no to any of those three.

Color: This is the question I have always hated, I don't really have a favorite color.  When I was in school and someone would ask, I would even answer "rainbows".  I am an equal opportunity colorist, I like pink things because in a house of boys pink keeps my toys mine.  The boys rarely borrow my pink pens or pink scissors for school.  I like red in my home decor because I think it draws the eye and adds a strong punch to the neutral palette that runs throughout the house.  I like browns because their warm, rich browns like dark woods and chocolate.  They make our house feel luxurious and homey.  I love blues because I do have boys and blue is calm like our beautiful pool on a hot summer day in Vegas.  I love yellows because they are cheery, especially with white - a reason Daisy's are my favorite flower.  Lately I can't get enough orange, I like using it on my scrap pages and art journaling with orange paints and sprays.  And one mustn't forget green.  I have green containers for storage, green plants both real and fake adorning my yard and home.  I love running my feet in the green grass of our front yard - you tell me how I'm suppose to pick one of these colors over the other?

Animals: A dog.  This will be remarkably shorter than my novel on color, as I do not like dogs.  (yes I'm THAT kind of person... it's not the dog I don't like it's the fact that mom is stuck with the responsibility.. of the dog or making sure who is suppose to take care of the dog IS taking care of the dog..)

Dessert: Yes, please.

Artist: So many favorite artists... hmm..
  • music:  Eclectic again, Adelle, Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon, Mumford & Sons, The Killers, the list goes on...
  • writer: Past: Jane Austen hands down, she wrote Pride & Prejudice my favorite novel  Current:  Debbie Hodge - not just kissing up to her but I was rereading an article she wrote some ago for inspiration and everything she wrote you can just feel the passion she has for getting your story down.
  • art-artist: Past: Van Gogh & Current: Dina Wakley - both of their work I can stare at for hours just checking out the textures and colors and wishing I could put it all together like they do
  • TV-Movies:  Past: Sean Connery Current: Hugh Jackman - seriously does this need explaining?
Skinny jeans: I'm working on it!

Brand: Target. I'm cheap.

Perfume: Princess by Vera Wang

Accessory: It was a betsy johnson necklace but then Keagan got ahold of it... I'll replace it some day.

City: Las Vegas, but half of my heart will always call Detroit home...

Hobbies: Photography, Scrapbooking, Cooking and Video Games

Beauty Products: Deodorant.. ?  I never really learned to properly apply makeup so I always feel fake in it

Holiday: Thanksgiving - Everyone has the christmas spirit but is gathering to eat & spend time together not to get a gift.

Snack: Peanut butter twix & a pepsi

Movie: Too hard.  Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter.. I love a well done series.  I also love Bridget Jones Diary (part 1 NOT 2) - I love Chicago, X-men, the new Star Trek, and Dead Poets Society.  I am a plethora of movie tastes.

Guilty Pleasure: Art supplies.  If I don't have money I literally avoid the block that Michael's is on.. I have no will power for a new paint brush, a cool piece of patterned paper or an awesome shade of teal paint.

Seven things you may or may not know about me...

  1. I can't swim, nor do I care that I can't swim.
  2. I have a tattoo of a treble clef that my mom took me to get when I turned 18 (she got two tattoos that day)
  3. I love hostessing - anything.  I find theme parties and time with friends the most rewarding.
  4. I'm actually very shy and overcome it by being a jabberjaw
  5. I wish getting rid of bad guys was as easy as saying Swiper No Swiping
  6. If I went into Ikea with $1,000; I would still come out wishing I could have gotten one more thing.
  7. My lucky numbers are 7 & 4.
Now it's your turn.

ramblings on tech support peeps - give them a break

>> Apr 27, 2011

First to hackers -
  1. Stop being so angry and hateful.
  2. Get a life...   a real one find a pretty gal or guy - marry them fall in love, have kids, buy an old car & restore it, take up art, write a book, something for crying out loud: find a purpose in your life because hacking for the sake of hacking is not a life.  Use your intelligence to help create anti-hacking measures to save us poor mortals from having our personal data stolen from other hackers who haven't learned to get a life.  Use your powers to protect our national secrets from foreign entities.  Use your powers for good, not because you're bored and think it's fun to mess with people's lives.
  3. See #2... seriously get a life, it will help with #1
I've IT departments in my head for about a week now since Sony has pulled the PSN offline.  Yes my boys were upset but they got over it (see they have a life) and went off to the park or 7-11 for slurpies with their friends.  Heck *I* was upset, I just got my PS3 for my scraproom to use as a netflix, dvd, huluplus, and babysitter for Zach & Keagan - my lovely all in one machine :)

Since it was taken offline I've done a few searches for news when it'd be back up, at this point mainly because I'm finding it fascinating.  Across facebook and message boards alike, I've seen an enormous amount of Sony bashing.  Apparently Sony should have known and barring their knowledge of how they'd be hacked they should have had a fix in seconds.  I don't argue that companies have a responsibility to try to gauge how they can be hacked, but hackers are smart, genius levels.  I imagine that the people who work in tech support care about their jobs and want to fix this and want to do it right.  So griping and saying how horrible Sony is gets us where? The same thing I think about Barnes & Noble.  My nookcolor just started reseting itself and yes I posted "what's going on" but then I see message boards about people off to return theirs or griping about the tech support call they made.

People can't see the future, they take precautions but sometimes things, including hackers, blind side you.  I would rather these companies take time to fix these things correctly and with more precautions if necessary then rush a patch out and have my data still at risk.  Be nice to the tech less they become angry and hateful, and turn to hacking.

It's my brother's party and I'll cry if I want to...

>> Apr 22, 2011

Today was/is Austin's 16th birthday party.  I realize you'd think I would have a photo of Austin to accompany this story but Keagan, yet again, stole the show.  If you weren't invited to Austin's birthday party, don't take it personally.  No one was, not even myself.  He didn't want a 'big deal' made.  I wasn't even allowed to have a real cake or candles but that's not what this post is about.  I thought I'd do Austin a favor and ask Pop pop to take Zach for the night so then I didn't spend the night telling Zach to leave Austin & his friends alone. (Ok it was just as much a favor for me) When it came time to leave, Zach bolted out the door excited he got to stay with Pop pop again (he's been talking about it for a week, it's only the second time ever).

About 4 seconds after the door closes, I see Keagan and he's in full melt down.  So much so I can't even tell what he's saying but assume it's because he wants to go with Pop pop too.  I was wrong.  I realized what he was saying "Pop pop took my friend".  He didn't care that he wasn't going, he cared he wasn't with Zach.  It's moments like this that I forget all the fighting and at each other's throats, and me yelling to leave each other alone and I remember the thing that matters most - even if they try to deny it or pretend I'm insane...  my boys genuinely love each other and miss each other when they are apart.  They keep tabs on each other, and not in a what's he getting to do that I don't kind of way.  I'm a lucky mom, I do realize that.  (Even when I offered to be Keagan's friend and he said no)

ps. Dad took Keagan on a special shopping trip, just two 'friends' going to Target. (aka Dad's offer of friendship was accepted... I think he realized I set up the Pop pop/Zach situation)

Orange you glad I didn't say orange?

>> Mar 19, 2011

I so enjoy Bountiful Baskets.  It was freezing cold and super windy this morning going to pick up my basket.  I took both Zach and Keagan who were real troopers waiting in line for their bananas & apples (the only two things they wanted in the basket).  Though they seemed intrigued by the huge box I said had just oranges in it.  I got a few "only oranges???"

It is a rather large box, but I am splitting it with a friend.  I am planning on a orange juicing session later today if any locals want to come over and test their strength.  The rest?  I'm going to figure out some other culinary arts like how to dry my own herbs, freeze celery and explore a fresh papaya.

Its going to be a great, relaxing weekend.  I have some scrapping to do, I enjoyed the nice weather we had yesterday with the boys outside.  I got a few great shots too (thank you project life).  Here's a glimpse at some of the rest of basket contents.  I'll try to share photos of the rest of the process (still not getting enough photos for project life).

What's up buttercup?

>> Mar 15, 2011

I was inspired by a blog post I read today by Kimberly Kalil.  She shared some of her SheART from Christy Thomlinson's workshop.  While her art is gorgeous, it's not what inspired me to finally blog.  It was this paragraph in her post:
Way back in January, it seems like ages ago, I picked healthy as my word for 2011. Without going into too many details, I've become incredibly unhealthy. I'm not sick. I'm not dying. I'm just sort of toxic. I'm cranky. I'm negative. I've been unhappy. I'm overeating. I'm overspending. I'm gaining weight. I realized I was really unhealthy. There are a lot of reason. I know what they are. But rather than share them, I'd like to share what I'm doing to be healthy.
It's amazing the things people say that you are immediately connected to, whether you choose to be or not.  I read this paragraph and immediately knew I was going to have to do some 'releasing' today.    (In more ways than you realize)

I'm holding on to a lot of unhealthy things.  I could have written the paragraph from her blog, if it weren't for me being so tied up in being unhealthy.  But thanks to Kimberly's eloquence, I don't need to think of how to articulate the way my life is going, instead I can skip to the part where I share what I'm doing that's healthy and learn to refocus on the positive things I have am doing in my life.

  • I too am taking the SheART workshop and it has been so much fun.  I am afraid I'm going to wind up with a wall of canvases if I don't be careful.  I love that it lets me use all the techniques I've learned from Dina in her art journaling classes, and combine them with the things I've learned from Christy.  Yes, my girls tend to have rather odd dresses and big 80's hair, but I'm having fun and getting inky.
  • I am still excited each month for our book club.  There are six of us girls in the book club and it's been such a wonderful experience.  We meet once a month and discuss The Happiness Project.  We also discuss chocolate, marriage, wine, kids, dental work and life in general.  It's a rare thing for me to have that much live social interaction in an evening.
  • I'm doing more of what I love. Debbie's new site Masterful Scrapbook Design is amazing.  I've learned so much and been able to meet some of the most interesting people of my life, Kimberly Kalil included!  Why just today I sat in on an interview with Anna Aspnes and was just blown away by how her mind works.  If you'll allow the photography metaphor, I learned that to find inspiration in the everyday like Anna does, I need to retrain what my eye sees through the viewfinder.
  • Finally, I wrote a class; Get Inspired by Words.  I've been wanting to do it for sometime and I finally did.  I'm a storyteller first and foremost, so when I scrapbook I always have a story in mind before I start my page.  I wanted to share where I find my inspiration for stories and thus, the class was born.
These are just a few things I'm doing on the road to a healthier me.  I'm not saying I'll be less stressed, lean mean version of myself in a minute, but I know that I can't keep walking the path I'm walking.  I too know the reasons I'm being so unhealthy and the hardest thing is to acknowledge that most of them are out of my control.  On some level it makes me feel like I'm admitting failure or defeat by saying I can't fix them.  Instead, I will instead triumph over them by refocusing my energy towards the healthier aspects of my life.

To-days To-dos

>> Oct 31, 2009

So it's only 9am and i'm trying to be eager and excited about today. Not that there is a lot going on just to get motivated to actually do something.

I have a living room that looks like a Thomas the Train tornado rolled through it, Laundry, boxes to be packed and groceries to be purchased. An art journal to work on, a kit to get ready..

Last night we went to a halloween party at Barnes & Noble it was .. interesting. They had around 65 kids in about 6.5 square feet of space.. it got difficult when the little ones had a costume contest because they asked them to all come up on a stage (about 3 x 4 ft) .. but parents came too because the little ones were that little.. it actually became funny after a few moments.

Tonight is a neighbors birthday and the kids will be trick or treating. I wish there were some good movies out this week, but alas I will be stuck with whatever is on cable.

Zach just got picked up by PopPop today for a hike at Red Rock Canyon.. and let me tell you there is nothing that makes me happier and more excited than to hear that giddy 4yr old scream in delight when he sees PopPop pull up. That nonstop chatter. It really pepped my day up I'm feeling eager to get going with my day of packing.

woowooo.. ooh and I need to order a cake for a little 2 yr old... where does the time go?

I though I'd share my homes away from home..

Each day I check my boards.. I always start with Get It Scrapped. I love the new look Debbie has installed and love the View New Content.. :) I am a board cheater.. I click that and read all the happenings going on in my scrappy home. I feel so lucky to have this group of ladies in my life. My favorite is going through the galleries and seeing everyone's work and seeing the influences of the classes in their work over time.

I then head over to Willow Traders to see what is going on there (again another scrappy home). I honestly check the TV threads there first (hehe) I am a TV junkie and love that my scrap buddies watch a lot of the same TV I do. I also like seeing the kits and coveting all the goodies and the general jesting that goes on with the ladies.

On to facebook.... i'm a Mafia Wars and Combine junkie. Combine is a ball dropping game kind of a tetris hybrid.. I am trying to make the high score list of all-time.. I'm aways away but I am trying hehe.. I also like reading updates from my friends. I think it's cool to see what my friends from years past are up to each day.

Now onto my physical roaming.. more days than not I head to Taco Bell for lunch (this explains my gym membership) .. I'm also a creature of habit.. a #4 with a pepsi and 2 cheese roll ups.. Keagan eats some of the pizza, Zach the cheese roll-ups and then some pizza and I have the two crunchy tacos.. I never finish the Pepsi :)

I also head to Target too often to pick up diapers or any other small insignificant thing needed for our house. Target is at the end of our street so it's *too* convenient.. I also like checking the clearance rack and have gotten a lot of kids T-shirts for $1 and you can't beat that!

I then head home most of the time for the evening .. Keagan settles for a nap then the school boys return.. I get started on dinner and thus the evening of eating, tv, bedtime routines and such begins.. (with frequent rechecks of my online sites ;) )

Where does your day take you?

The Bad News first...

>> Sep 15, 2009

August & September are always crazy months for me. Between back to school, Austin coming back from Florida (which requires getting him back into our lifestyle routines) and just a general chaos of appointments and getting things done before the school days start up I often feel overwhelmed.

This year was an exception, it was even more chaotic. We added house-hunting and moving Amanda back home to that mix. Then I added the kit club, teaching a class at GIS and a trip to Utah. All of these things are GOOD things, but still can make one feel like they aren't sure which way to run. Personally, I prefer digging holes and hiding as opposed to running but that didn't seem to work either ;)

The bad news is, Amanda has made a decision to return to Florida. She misses her friends too much. I think it's a horrible mistake and really wish she'd stay here long enough to take care of herself to the point she can be independent and successful in her own right. Alas, she is an adult and has to make these decisions. So thursday begins the endless worrying about how she's really doing in Florida and not knowing if she's taking care of herself like eating right, and all the other mom worries that these kids bring. So if you can send some positive vibes out into the world directed to her I would appreciate it.

The good news is, honestly I don't have good news. I thought maybe the hope there was good news would make reading the bad news not seem so bad. LOL

Can you hear me now?

>> Aug 16, 2009

good grief.. it's been a whirlwind couple weeks. Between CKU and Amanda moving back in.. now Zach's birthday party is this weekend, a new kit was released saturday and it's back to school next monday.. wowza. I often find this is the worst time for me to forget ME so to speak. I forget all the tweezing, dying and personal grooming.. and I forget my crafting. It's not a good thing because when I don't do these things it feeds into my mood like a viscious circle.

But I'm trying to do some things I enjoy. Amanda and I watched the entire first and up to the last shown episode of True Blood. It was a few LATE nights but it was so fun.

So this week I will be cleaning, doing laundry so everyone has clean clothes for school, order a bouncy house for an excited four yr old and take a few trips to dentists and doctors.. but among all of this I will be scrapping and getting my hair done. Maybe something wild, like pink!

Oh scrappy day!

>> Aug 3, 2009

It seems so long since I've scrapbooked! But I'm getting very excited because in two days I'll be leaving for Provo, UT and attending CKU!! I am not ready by a long shot.. but I am excited. I must say I am not sure if I even care if I scrap there I am going to enjoy getting away and being surrounded by adult girls.. (that doesn't sound quite right but you know what I mean)

To-do's to get ready..

Pack my clothes
Choose photos for Tim's class
Make posters for the dorm lyrics
Pack my scrap tool kit for the classes
Pack some snacks

Not too bad.. though I'm sure I'm forgetting a few hundred things....

Mom I want an offer..

>> Jul 24, 2009

It took me a moment to realize that he was watching a commercial on a flying airplane saucer toy. The commercial stated "You'll love this offer" and so that's what he wanted.. the offer.

I love how literal his mind can be at times.

I'm not a doctor.. nor do I play one on TV

Ok you will not believe the progress I've made in my cleaning endeavors.. but by looking at things they look worse. Why is that? I decided to do another "overhaul" and pulled a lot out of the crevices and cracks of the netherworld.. so it's all mid-room. I also decided on a less is more approach with organizing so I have a bunch of those Making Memories desktop organizer things .. if anyone is interested send me a email/PM whatever, you'll get them cheap. I should have known better than to get them to begin with.. They are these things:

They just didn't work for what I was doing. I am becoming a habitual reorganizer. My mom used to say that people reorganize out of boredom with their life. (She being the person who reorganized and rearranged furniture more than anyone I have ever known) I'm beginning to wonder if (here's the doctory analysis) if it's more a control issue? I mean there's an entire element of not honestly knowing an organization system isn't going to work for me until 3 mos into it and I realize I'm in the same boat I was before this new system.. but more than that there is something therapeutic to me in putting all of my "stuff" in an ordered system. Since life is essentually not going to go where I put it or stay in any system perhaps I'm regaining a sense of control (an illusion I'll agree) So is that way too deep for a wednesday? I agree. I'll leave it in regardless of how melodramatic it may sound ;)

Fear not, I am in a fine mood. I am still loving life and enjoying it. All of the nonsense above about control has to do more with Tony's job and the adventures of parenting ever changing personalities.

Happy Snappy

I'm in such a great mood today.. I am sure it has nothing to do with being down to just one child... (he he) No seriously I got up early and my father in law picked up Zach for a day with Pop Pop.. Zach was on cloud nine. I love the high pitched squeal when he's trying to tell you something and is so excited. "I'm going with Pop pop to look for poop on the ground!!!"

Yes you read that right. Apparently last time on their outing they roamed Red Rock Canyon. Pop pop told Zach to watch for poop on the ground. Pop pop didn't want it on a shoe, then in his truck. Zach however thought that was the event. He was so funny when he came home last night explaining to Dad that animals "just poop right on the ground" He seemed so aghast at the idea.

Today they were going to clean the camper, can't wait to hear what new discoveries are made.

Kyle is off to Uncle Brads to help lay sod down. Uncle Brad has moved to a new bigger house. I love the excitement of a new house. Anyone that saw my comment before about house hunting.. it's not the moving that bothers me. I don't mind boxing up and moving into a new place. Blame my very early childhood but I always enjoyed moving to a new place. It's the finding the place as an adult, thinking about signing on for payments for such a long period of time. Looking for something that you like, and DH likes.. do the kids have to switch schools? Knowing that "fixer-uppers" don't get fixed up.. that is all the stuff that gets on my nerves. And more but I'll leave it at that.

So it's just me & Keagan hanging out. We played train, I threw him on the couch a few hundred times in a game of airplane. He's at such a fun age and doing such stinking cute things. He is in the phase where he mimicks others, in mannerisms or trying to copy some words (we are getting a few more sounds that resemble words). The other day he was following Zach around and doing exactly everything Zach did. It was a fun follow the leader game, even if Zach wasn't intentionally participating. The funniest moment was when all the boys were playing army in the backyard with nerf guns.. Kyle & Zach were soldiers.. Zach kept yelling "What's the mission captain?" at Kyle and Keagan was standing behind Zach behind the post peeking around the corner looking for the enemy.. It made me chuckle because he was looking so serious trying to get a good view of the bad guys. They would have done well defending the backyard except Keagan had his little nerf gun backwards. So he if he was capable of pulling the trigger he would have shot himself.

My break is over.. back to cleaning up. I intend to be entirely covered with spray ink, ATG adhesive and scraps of paper by tomorrow evening. I have my list of crafty to-dos that I'm going to do tomorrow :) ALL day ... hehe

Stupid is... as Stupid does...

>> Jul 8, 2009

In my haste to purge and clean my home of all the clutter that weighs me down. I combined all my software CDs into a nice CD holder that takes up about 1/10th of the room that all the cases did. In this process the cases were tossed, meaning I tossed my Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 CD Case, the one that has the security code you need to enter to have the program actually run on your computer. Of course I need to install it on a new computer now and have a worthless disc.

I can't believe I did that, virtually threw away a good portion of $.
