Michigirl74..... goodbye

>> May 28, 2009

I just had Debbie change my user ID at get it scrapped to TamiTaylor (I have no imagination). Michigirl74 is such a part of me, it's strange how attached one grows to a user ID. I am letting it go for one I'm no longer living in Michigan and quiet honestly having others ask where in Michigan I live makes me homesick. But it just felt like it was time.

So here I am .. Tami Taylor.

Breathing it all in..

>> May 27, 2009

Some moments require a silent appreciation.. others you have to just tell the world. This is the latter. I am feeling overwhelmingly blessed right now. (That's probably not a word but I'll use it anyway)

I have enough to complain about with DH's paycheck being messed with at work, and my kids and their chores .. and this bad insomnia.. but at this moment all I can think of is how cool my life is. I know at times people say things that may come across as a "selling" or maybe over the top so it hints of being exaggerated but I want to say what I am about to go on about is honest and heartfelt.

I have some of the greatest friends and online buddies in the world. Truly. I had my first online adventure in college. I joined this telnet chat group and was befriended by many.. it was then that I realized the power of the internet. My roommate Neala can attest to the sleepless nights I spent giggling in the computer lab with friends. I have made friends here and there.. I have two friends I made from the internet when I began my life as a single mom.. shout out to Terri & Cindy. I look at my life now and am a part of Get It Scrapped and the groups of ladies there are beyond anything I could hope for in friends. I have never come across a group where everyone is nice to everyone. The teachers there are remarkable they have classes archived that are ages ago and you can still access and download and the teachers still look for students there and answer questions.. teachers who go beyond just teaching and become counselors .. project girls who share how to do things on their blogs so others can pretend they are talented martha stewart types. I just feel lucky.

Why is this hitting me? I guess just the recent weeks with missing my mom and the Mother May I benefit event being such a success. Then surgery, and then a decision Tony and I made to start a home based business I've long dreamed of doing. (an online scrapbook store & kit club) I shared this with a friend who is a kit club owner and immediately was given a virtual hug and congratulations. It was awesome to receive that support. I also decided against a design team call right away because I wanted to get a month 'under my belt' so I asked a GIS friend who was on board immediately. I am so excited about this new venture and having it well received by friends meant a lot. I apprecaite those who I told not saying "are you crazy?" :)

So here I sit reflecting on how blessed I am in the relationships in my life as my sons and husband hold wrestlemania XLII in our living room..

Now if I could just get all these gals to move to Vegas.. one down (Mary) and oh.. a hundred to go..

Short week..

>> May 26, 2009

Everyone gathered yesterday for a cookout.. and this morning I am sitting realizing all the things I need or feel like I have to get done this week.

So I'm taking a moment to "regroup" .. or is it just "group" since I didn't do it the first time..

I have housecleaning, groceries, mailing, and some shopping to do. I have a doctor's appointment, a prescription to fill and I need to revisit the chore issue with the boys who are yet again back to usual of not doing anything unless I'm on them. Then there's the things I'd like to do like scrapping and working on a new endeavor in that area. Purchase airline tickets for my trip home in November.

I thought summer was suppose to be relaxed.. those lazy days of summer?

Here's some before & afters.. though I don't have an after for Kyle or Austin as they ran after they were done I'll get theirs today..
Zach wanted a mohawk and since Tony and I don't care what our kids do to their hair he has one :) When she cut it he was so serious and didn't seem all that excited.. when she ran her fingers through it with gel and stood it up.. he screamed OH MY GOD! and was so tickled and kept yelling for everyone to look at his hair.. it was so priceless I wish I had video taped it.

Here's before

and after..
Keagan did really well considering his age. I had to hold him for the second half. He was also tired and hungry so I'm sure my timing didn't help the situatino.
and here's his after check out that Blanchard hairline ;)

Summer Six...

>> May 15, 2009

So I have a friend who is by far one of the best buds to have when you are a list maker.. Terri. Here's her blog. She just send me a cute little calendar, she's trying to raise money to go back to volunteer at a clinic in Romania. Read her blog for more information it's a pretty awesome & selfless adventure to say the least. Now back to the list thing.. we used to make these new years resolutions and would put so many on the list it was almost so crazy we should have been locked up for it.

I am missing my lists.. (and I miss you too Terri.. email more :P)

So here is my list for the world to see and maybe hold me a little more accountable for it ;) I have six things I want to do this summer. Here goes..

1. Album Project: I need to reorganize all my layouts and put them in albums in a way they make more sense. I will be using a customized form of the Photo Freedom system.. (Stacey Julian) and I have a ton of layouts that aren't even in albums that need to go in some system.

2. Photo Project: I need to get all my digital photos under control. I want to get them all organized and will need to take my old laptop in and see how much they can save from the HD. I am really hoping they can save at least the christmas photos from 2008.. I will really hate to lose those. (the thing died shortly after uploading them and I never delete from my memory cards until I back up on cd but this time I must have hit the wrong thing because they aren't on the memory card :) ) Ok I digress again... organize photos.. get a system in place to routinely have them developed.

3. Reading Project: I just bought a ton of books for inspiration and have only thumbed through a few.. I would like to have read at least 1/2 of them.. and I mean READ not just look at pictures.

4. Camera Project: I splurged on my new lens and want to get off auto settings. I want to learn the settings and take photos like the pros

5. House Project: I'm almost done purging I took a break for a bit but am getting back to normal so I can pick back up where I left off.. Not a lot left to do but it will make such a big difference.

6. Art Project: I want to play more.. I have the retreats scheduled and those are a step in that direction but I want to practice scrapbooking & art journaling more. I miss it.

So those are the six things I'm working on this summer. My deadline is August 31. Now to decide which to pick first.. I just got the albums from crop chocolate so I think I may start the album project first.. essentially it's a part of all the rest of the projects too.

mid-week.... what are you doing

>> May 13, 2009

Things are going a little upside down here.. if you can send positive thoughts to Tony.. we are OK his work is just getting stressful and paycuts are going around..

So today I got a layout done, the 8th round posted for Mother May I.. and am about to draw a winner and post another drive-by.

I'm getting laundry slowly done.. there is so much! I'm hoping to get that done and am creating a to-do list for the week, summer and rest of the year :) oh yeah.. it's that list girl creeping out of hiding!

what are you up to?

The donation has been made..

>> May 10, 2009

It was actually more than the $505 because some participants donated directly to their local charters.. how awesome is it that we all banded together and did so much to fight such a horrible disease? Big thanks to everyone that was involved and I can not say how much this all means to me.. it has been a dream of mine to do something since my mother passed away. I am so grateful for those who helped me and joined me on this mission.

New baby.... not that kind ;)

>> May 9, 2009

I got a 50mm lens!! It's honestly THE reason I got my Nikon D60 (not well researched as I didn't realize I would have to wait for a AF-S lens but.. now it's here so no big deal)

Here is a shot taken with the kit lens on 50mm and then taken with the new 50mm lens..

what a difference! I LOVE the blurred background.

Tony showing tolerance for my new lens....

And what is coming up this week? Well last week of Mother May I.. which includes a Drive-by prize that I'm about to post.. and then 2 drawings monday a drive by every day through Saturday.. then another drawing monday and another drawing the following monday for the grand prize of $100! I can't believe how amazing it's going.

Then there is Doris' Product Pizzazz 102.. and well after 101 I can not wait for 102.. I love using up my stash and well then Tony razzing me about all the stuff I have... until I shop again..

I also will be sharing tomorrow how much we raised for Scleroderma.. so check back!

No I do not have guns in my scrapbook stash...

>> May 7, 2009

I asked Zach if he wanted to scrapbook a photo I have of all four boys. My boys are all into guns. Yes that's as lovely as it sounds  The two oldest play paintball, my 11 yr old is a nerf fanatic.. so Zach has picked up the gun tote-ing spirit.. he's a cowboy most days thanks to Pop-pop who does live western action shooting .. other days he's playing paintball tactical style..

So when asked what stickers do you want on the page he excitedly exclaimed "guns!"

so we'll head out later.. in the 95 degree weather.. with shorts and cowboy boots on.. and a gun belt with two pistols.. to see what we can scrounge up at the scrapbook store ;)

Mother May I?

It's been a crazy fun ride. I'm enjoying seeing everyone's layouts and they are giving me so many ideas I want to do. Isn't that the greatest thing? Having a challenge that you hope inspires someone to share something or do something and then in return their end result inspires me and others to do their "take" on the challenge as well?

Ooh.. and the drive-bys I can not believe the gifts and prizes we have.. right now we are giving away a March Kit from the Scrap Room and we have so many more coming up!

I was reading artful blogger yesterday and realized how neglectful I am of this blog. I am never without words coming out of my mouth but for whatever reason putting them on a blog makes me a little shy.. there are so many great blogs I feel anything I have to share is no where near the caliber others have on their blogs.. but I'm getting over it. I teach my kids to practice things so I will practice and perhaps get better at blogging.. perhaps not but if not then the very least that will happen will be getting people to view cute videos of my budding rockstar ;)
