To-days To-dos

>> Oct 31, 2009

So it's only 9am and i'm trying to be eager and excited about today. Not that there is a lot going on just to get motivated to actually do something.

I have a living room that looks like a Thomas the Train tornado rolled through it, Laundry, boxes to be packed and groceries to be purchased. An art journal to work on, a kit to get ready..

Last night we went to a halloween party at Barnes & Noble it was .. interesting. They had around 65 kids in about 6.5 square feet of space.. it got difficult when the little ones had a costume contest because they asked them to all come up on a stage (about 3 x 4 ft) .. but parents came too because the little ones were that little.. it actually became funny after a few moments.

Tonight is a neighbors birthday and the kids will be trick or treating. I wish there were some good movies out this week, but alas I will be stuck with whatever is on cable.

Numbers...

it's fun studying numbers...
zach & I count
we talk numbers and time..
he frequently asks me what time it is, how many of this or that..
he frequently asks me a lot of questions
I frequently ask him to go play
he rarely does it
on not-so rare occassions like just now I get frustrated and through gritted teeth and with a grunting voice I ask "how many times do you have to be told to go play?"
he answered "forty"
it's fun studying numbers...

the Tuesday Talk prompt at Get It Scrapped

What is your favorite word? Gobbledygook - I just think it's such a silly word
What is your least favorite word? Intolerance
What turns you on? Humor
What turns you off? Wastefulness
What sound or noise do you love? Laughter
What sound or noise do you hate? Sports announcers (voice pushers LOL)
What is your favorite curse word? Well since this blog is read by youths ;) I wont type it but it's one my father says and whenever I hear him say it, it makes me laugh for whatever reason. It starts with a C and 10 letters long.. rhymes with pucker.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? I'd love to be an artist or teach art to young kids.
What profession would you not like to do? I'd hate to be a social worker. I'd get too emotionally attached every time.
If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? Not too bad Mrs. Taylor.. not too bad at all!

yesteryear.. why facebook rocks.

>> Oct 18, 2009

I took a chance. I have a painting (I'll post a photo tomorrow it's dark and I wont get the best shot with the lighting in my house). This painting was given to my mom when she was in high school by her best friend. It is a part of my youth from hanging on her bedroom wall to hanging in her walk in closet (it will soon take a loving spot in my new home). However, I remember my mom trying to tell me the symbolism of the painting and me thinking I had forever to remember it. Now, with her gone I have no idea but love the painting.

So tonight I took a chance on facebook. I looked up the artist (my mom's best friend at least signed it!). I didn't get ahold of her but of her sister! I'm going to photograph the painting and see if I can rack her brain tomorrow, I'll keep everyone posted but I was so excited tonight I had to share. I miss my mom so much some days it feels like a physical pain, these moments make it easier.

Zach just got picked up by PopPop today for a hike at Red Rock Canyon.. and let me tell you there is nothing that makes me happier and more excited than to hear that giddy 4yr old scream in delight when he sees PopPop pull up. That nonstop chatter. It really pepped my day up I'm feeling eager to get going with my day of packing.

woowooo.. ooh and I need to order a cake for a little 2 yr old... where does the time go?

oh the places I go!

I though I'd share my homes away from home..

Each day I check my boards.. I always start with Get It Scrapped. I love the new look Debbie has installed and love the View New Content.. :) I am a board cheater.. I click that and read all the happenings going on in my scrappy home. I feel so lucky to have this group of ladies in my life. My favorite is going through the galleries and seeing everyone's work and seeing the influences of the classes in their work over time.

I then head over to Willow Traders to see what is going on there (again another scrappy home). I honestly check the TV threads there first (hehe) I am a TV junkie and love that my scrap buddies watch a lot of the same TV I do. I also like seeing the kits and coveting all the goodies and the general jesting that goes on with the ladies.

On to facebook.... i'm a Mafia Wars and Combine junkie. Combine is a ball dropping game kind of a tetris hybrid.. I am trying to make the high score list of all-time.. I'm aways away but I am trying hehe.. I also like reading updates from my friends. I think it's cool to see what my friends from years past are up to each day.

Now onto my physical roaming.. more days than not I head to Taco Bell for lunch (this explains my gym membership) .. I'm also a creature of habit.. a #4 with a pepsi and 2 cheese roll ups.. Keagan eats some of the pizza, Zach the cheese roll-ups and then some pizza and I have the two crunchy tacos.. I never finish the Pepsi :)

I also head to Target too often to pick up diapers or any other small insignificant thing needed for our house. Target is at the end of our street so it's *too* convenient.. I also like checking the clearance rack and have gotten a lot of kids T-shirts for $1 and you can't beat that!

I then head home most of the time for the evening .. Keagan settles for a nap then the school boys return.. I get started on dinner and thus the evening of eating, tv, bedtime routines and such begins.. (with frequent rechecks of my online sites ;) )

Where does your day take you?

crossing the line...

>> Oct 11, 2009

We are slowly crossing the line between being impatient and not wanting to wait to get into our new house and the point where you realize the time is going to fly and you aren't ready because there is so much to do...

We had the house inspection yesterday, it was nice to get in there and measure to realize the items you own will fit. Although our new house is 2x the size so it should fit, there are issues of making sure TV's fit in the recesses of the wall built to hold TV's. As you can see here (the TV spot in the wall is just off the right of this photo but you get the idea:

A few things were found out they were somewhat minor like a few chips in paint and a broken knob, etc. Overall the home owner said the home was in remarkable condition. The biggest disappointment is that the oven does not work. Tony thought all the appliances were new when we first looked at the home but after getting a closer look that is not the case. It's ok though we didn't buy the house for the appliances. However, the oven not working is a bummer because it's a wall oven and thus costly. The same model at lowes is $1200. So that needs to be addressed. I can not wait to have my own scrap room.. it's the main thought that keeps me from losing my mind these days. I have my own scrap area now but then it becomes over run by bills and papers from other areas of our home. My scrap area is that area that is home to whatever doesn't have a home. I often go in to sit down at my desk to find sports illustrated and cigar afficiando sitting there waiting for me to read them.. (because I'm so into sports & cigars) It will be fantastic to have these things dumped somewhere else and my room is off the main walkways enough it would take effort to go dump them on my desk, and that means it's less likely to happen :) he he

So here's a shot of our backyard..

A few shout outs:

Angela: thanks so much for being my measuring buddy! I appreciated the company and ideas. I wish Keagan had been a little happier .. good grief he was the worlds crabbiest baby

Michelle: thank you for the daily emails, you have no idea the difference they make to me

Mr. Taylor: Good for you for making contact and I can't wait to hear about it! See you SOON!!

a hole is a beautiful thing..

>> Oct 4, 2009

Last year I wanted a cool belt.. a ed hardy belt. I like the graphic tattoo feel of his designs. They are always in great bright colors and just scream an appreciation for color and fun :) So I asked DH who got me a cool pink one last christmas, way too small. By way to small, I mean the ends *just* met.. (when I sucked in and still squished my blubber around) and today I can buckle it on the first hole. :)

I have no idea what to think or say but our offer was accepted and we could be in the new place as early as the middle of November! There is one little curveball but it should be minor and not affect things too much because we can't close until after the 28th of the month. Reason: the current sellers have flipped the house and because of this the home has to stay in their name for 90days which is up on the 28th.. which is good for us because it's all new carpet, painting and even new appliances so yeah for us!

I'm so excited and just trying to keep my feet on the ground ;)
I'd like to go spend every red cent I have on new stuff LOL
