Disgusting

>> Mar 21, 2009

I decided I had to do at least one of my housecleaning to-dos yesterday.. so I cleaned the laundry room.. well actually only got half done as it was way worse than I ever imagined. I can not begin to describe the layer of gunk that was under the washer & dryer.. I pulled them out.. and steamed the floor with my shark steamer.. (an amazing product by the way I can't imagine how else that stuff would have came up) .. but my floor is nice in there now.. and it will last for about a week. It's the room that gets the traffic and with that the dirt and since it's the walkway from garage to home it will never remain clean but at least my appliances are white again with no visible dried on laundry detergent and the floor is clean .. my plan today is to finish by moving my christmas decoration bins onto the top shelf and reorganizing the cleaning products on the next shelf..

Oh and I read another book How to Cheat at Cleaning by Jeff Bredenberg.. I am glad I got it at the library I'd be mad if I bought it. It borders on annoying and I am probably not going to thoroughly read it.. though I keep thinking it can't just be about using disposable everything... in some instances I think disposables the best choice but not for all cleaning.. he doesn't literally say that but that's the feel from this reader's perspective. He says some things I think are good to hear, like to focus on important stuff. And his commercial cleaning (clean during commercials just small tasks) .. anyway thats my short review it's an ok read..

Off to work on my to-dos :)

American Idol, Biggest Loser & Books

>> Mar 18, 2009

I love American Idol.. I love Biggest Loser and for no other reason that that.. I'm going to blog on them :)

I watched American Idol first.. and have to say I think this is by FAR my favorite season. I was so excited and not in a mean way when the top favorites 'Lil, Danny, etc. didn't do as well and the poor kids scrapping the bottom of the barrel (can we say Anoop) did great.. it isn't an in your face comment but rather an excitement that it will be a real competition rather than predicitability.. who wants to watch a superbowl game of the Lions vs. Steelers.. not as exciting. I have to say I really loved Adam's performance.. glad there is a risk taker! I like Megan and Anoop.. and I thought Kris did a great job!

Biggest Loser.. still annoyed with them not saying who Aubrey ate a cookie for! And Jillian is still on my nerves.. she's just gone weird this season with all her holier than though stuff.. (wont bore those who have heard this rant before LOL)

I am enjoying TV again.. my old friend is back!

I also have a few more books.. Visual Chronicles.. it's really enjoyable in it's simplicity.. just things to do like a color inspiration or journal prompts.. I also got the Journal Revolution Book by the same authors.. and some really weird cards called Wide Open that are to prompt me as well. No I don't need a prompt for everything I do.. but I enjoy having a push.. or challenging myself when I have only 5 minutes to do something.. having a prompt helps cut out the whole "what do I do" .. not to mention sometimes prompts will cause a journal snippet about something I wouldn't have thought to do .. my only hope is getting into a better routine so I can find those brief moments.

Off to do laundry....

Book Binge!

>> Mar 13, 2009

I ordered a bunch of books.. today two came and I LOVE them..

one is Taking Flight by Kelly Rae Roberts.. she is a collage artist and I haven't even read the book yet but her art is AMAZING and she teaches you how to do it and I can't wait to dig into this book...

The other is Life is a Verb by Patti Digh.. wow.. she lost her stepfather to lung cancer and he died 37 days after he was diagnosed.. it made her start pondering on living life to the fullest, what would you do with 37 days, etc. Lots of emotions stirring up with this because of my mother's battle and eventual loss to Scleroderma. It has little challenges to do and I am looking forward to doing some of the challenges..

I also am still enjoying Wreck this Journal and am looking forward to posting some pages this weekend to show you how I DESTROYED it.. (ok actually I haven't even gotten to those pages yet, having fun with the drawing and writing a word a million times pages LOL but I'll share what I get done!)

Wreck This Journal

>> Mar 10, 2009

Keri Smith is a genius really.. well IMO.. This isn't the type of book that is going to move mountains or change the world by ending poverty or restore world peace.. what it will do.. is make you do unmentionable things to this book and enjoy it. Learn what "To create is to destroy" means. To create art you must destroy what was.. the blank canvas, the unused oil pastel... It seems like a *big* thing to me.. but I'm of a scrapbooker mind.. I buy pretty products and then hate using them because I don't want to ruin them.. this book is an exercise in learning that to fully appreciate an art supply, one must ruin it.. ;)

Ok enough of the self-analysis and psycho-babble.. why am I posting on this.. well for one I am beginning to be a bad blogger.. but for the other I was so exciteda bout this I bought several copies of this journal... (Erin if you are still reading this blog yours is on order and will be to you soon!) I got Austin & Kyle one and myself. I also got our sitter one! So I will post periodically the lovely journey our journals will take :) if anyone else has done this or wants to join in please post and I"ll link to yours as well I'd love to see what others have done/do :)
