How My Home Defined Me..

Ok I got one done!  Prompt 2 of Shimelle’s class

Main Journaling Reads:

Growing up in a small town (pop. 2562 in 2000, the last year I lived there) definitely had its pros & cons.  My friends and I always complained there was never anything to do – yet we were always doing something.  It was annoying that everyone knew everyone in town, but at the same time it was nice to always be greeted wherever you went.  I remember our block would have these huge block party/cookouts in the summer.  (You know the ones you see in movies) One summer the cookout ended in this full-out water fight.  Where the parents got involved running around with the hoses to see who could get farther down the street and soak morepeople.  If your hose reached the farthest you were definitely king.  Id’ like to say times are different now, that it’s not as easy to build these relationships, but I don’t think it’s the times, but rather people are different.  There is a uniqueness to having a neighborhood like the one I grew up in, you have to have the right mix of people with the right personalities and rive to build friendships.  Looking back I realize how ridiculous I was to never appreciate those moments on that street, Now that I am thousands of mils away and my children are at the age wehre the memories they make now are the ones they’ll carry for their lives, I wish we lived in a neighborhood, the kind of my childhood.  We just moved here and I definitely see the potential in our area but it’s the beginning.  I hope my kids have the same happy childhood and someday they look through some old pictures of where they call “hometown” and they get flooded with a million happy memories.

The other pictures have small snippets of what they are or a brief memory of that area.

It's good to be me :)

Ok so that's the song on Noggin right now but it fits :) I am loving my new desk it's so pretty and fits me and fits all my stuff! That's the scrap area.. lots of area huh? I'm so happy that although it looks FULL most of the area behind doors and in drawers is only half full. I have room to grow if needed!
This is the rest, if you are on TSR's board you know my albums annoy me.. too many different binders and the way the post albums are the binders look overstuffed quickly (like when you can see the hole for the post because you have SO much in them) I intend on moving all my albums into binders that will be sturdier and have hard covers (meaning the binding end is set in size you can only expand so much because it's a like a hardcover book)

I also splurged at the scrapbook store thursday on two new binders (you can see one in the pic on the top shelf is's brown and looks like a hardcover book) the rest of the splurge was just fun stuff some embellishments and some papers. I would have spent more time (and money) if my two year old didn't decide to strip naked and try to run around the store (yes he really did) so i high-tailed it out of there and ended my spree.

So any scrappy goals for anyone out there? I am doing an RAK on the TSR board for those who post & complete goals.. I have a few to say the least hopefully I'll get them all completed or at least enough that I no longer feel overwhelmed with the scrapping responsibilities :)

No Place Like Home

So of course at the last minute (do I ever do anything ahead of time anymore?) I joined Shimelle's Home class. I haven't taken a class from as yet but have heard a ton of great things about her Christmas class and hope to take it next year. I have found lately I'm focusing more on the story of my LO rather than the pictures or pretty paper.. I'm glad of it.

I couldn’t post the last few days because I found out I made a design team and I was busting at the seams to say something but wanted to wait until I signed the agreement J  I also have been ill, flu is SO fun!

Anyway, I made the design team for Scrappin-Time a LSS here in Vegas.  They have a great selection and I really enjoy roaming their store.. they also have the creative cafĂ© there which I have yet to try.  I believe I get my first project the beginning of April.. yippee!!

Strike One!

Well I made a new years resolution I’d try out for a design team or to get published this year.. a few times I didn’t set a limit but at least once.. so far I have submitted for the design team for my local store and an online kit club.  I didn’t make the kit club.  (still waiting on the LSS) I knew the moment the first challenge for the DT competition was posted that it wasn’t good, it was to use glitter & bling.. as a mother of four boys that’s not easy.  Yes I have a daughter but have all her pictures scrapbooked and decided to try to go the route of pushing myself.. so I did bling on a boy’s page but it was pretty minimal.. here’s the submission:

Cindy Lou Snorty Pants

That’s old isn’t it? Cindy have you heard from Lori at all?

Anyway.. my friend Cindy has graciously offered to attend a scrappers weekend and pick me up from the airport (late) and let me stay at her house and be my 1 and only girl time for the year.. (ok so she had little choice as it was either accept it or I’d rent a car from the airport and find her anyway)

I can’t believe after 10 years? I’m getting to spend some time on her turf! I’m so excited that I’m .. I don’t know how to explain it.. I was talking to my dear lover husband last night about it and what we’d be doing and it being close to the mall of America so I’d need to bring major cash.. and he said I’m over estimating my expenses as I rarely shop for myself (which I don’t) and I laughed and said I still shop I’ll just be getting you & the boys things! He then got really serious and FORBID me to buy him or the boys anything on my trip..

Isn’t he cute.. some days though I think he doesn’t know me.

To top it off I got my xmas (yes I bought it late) gift today .. a big scrap order but I made the STUPID mistake of promising myself I wouldn’t open the box until I had my scrap room cleaned and done.. the box was suppose to be here Friday.. normally one would be happy about an early delivery but it’s going to be hard to make myself wait!
